The recently published report of the chamber of commerce in
India about the tourism in India shows some hope that at last the governing
people with sit together to find a solution for the whole this of rape saga in
India. it is an international metaphor
that the ruling body open their eyes when something affects the economy of the
nation.
The case of all environment protection voices now days is an
example. There was a time the whole so called developed nations were on a spree
of modernization and now when it was observed that without caring the green the
whole development is a waste and it will at the end of the day affect the financial
stability.
The published report says that in the last six months time
the foreign tourism in India declined by 35%. It is after the very brutal rape
happened in Delhi. Those who have followed by blog would have already read at
least three times I did mention about that and the various other incidents
happening in India against women.
This rape culture has brought down the very high brand name ‘India’.
Apart from thousands of Indian women mercilessly
being raped and killed in India, the world also noticed that the attitude
towards foreign women were also not different.
A Swiss woman was
raped in March and then followed by many other incidents against foreign
nationals. A British woman had to jump out of the hotel window to escape a rape
assault by the hotel owner, an American woman was gang raped and to the latest
that an Irish woman getting raped. These are only namesake known information
and if we look into the reports we would see a lot of such incidents reported.
2 Million People are working in the tourism sector in India and
7 million people are profiting from the income from the tourists visiting India.
The tourism sector brings every year 18 billion dollars to India. The
government is concerned now as the decline of foreign tourists will affect the
whole economy of the nation at least to some extent.
This is an eye opener and the government is thinking of
measures to provide enough security to tourist areas and as well as to chart
out a plan how to conscientize the whole of India about the value of respecting
the freedom and integrity of women. Change can be invoked only when something
affects the economy of the nation.
